Shut Up Boomer!

January 31, 2021

I’ll do my best to keep this brief. I haven’t posted anything since Steve Cohen originally appeared to have secured the purchase of the Mets, but ultimately failed and had to complete the transaction a second time before he achieved his goal. In other words, it’s been a while.

It generally takes me a while to get motivated to actually start typing anything in regards to the Mets, but recent events drew me back in. No, it’s not about what you’ve been hearing to nauseating extremes about the recent absurdity of the stock market. No, I’m not here to bore you like everyone else these days. Rather, I’ve got a bone to pick with one sanctimonious and narcissistic Boomer Esiason and anyone else who might agree with his nonsensical rhetoric towards our new owner.

Let’s rewind a bit. Steve Cohen bought the Mets and gave us fans something that we’ve craved for decades. He brought his golden wallet filled with more money than we could ever dream of living vicariously through. He earned this money through his hedge fund, which is one of the largest any stock analyst has ever heard of.

As a Met fan, the only thing that I am concerned with is that we now have an owner who is willing to spend HIS money to make the team that I root for financially competative in order to give the Mets a better chance to win. That is all.

Never for one moment did I really care how warm and cuddly Uncle Steve appeared to be with his interviews and his Twitter posts. Never for one moment did I care HOW he made his money, although even someone who knows little about the stock market realizes that someone as successful as Cohen has to be making the rules of the game he’s playing tilt in his favor. After all, it’s the stock market. It’s not Monopoly.

Surely if you really took the time to peel that onion, you’d find some bitterness underneath. Surely, unless you decide to play dumb about the whole thing. Surely. Enter Boomer Esiason.

Boomer likens himself as a well-rounded intelligent man of all sports-related information. He also considers himself to be a Met fan, yet somewhere along the line he has placed himself firmly on his soap box and is leading the “I don’t like my owner anymore because he’s not the nice guy I thought he was” march. He has threatened to not go to any Met games until, “I find out exactly what’s going on here.” He added, “This actually makes me sick to my stomach.”

Really? Boomer. I think it’s you who is turning my stomach. The fact is that he has as large of a platform as anyone can have due to his affiliation with CBS radio. It seems that he is addicted to being heard. Well, as much as I try NOT to listen, his quotes keep appearing everywhere, and someone needs to call him out for his hypocrisy.

Now, I must admit I do not listen to your show because I find your opinion of yourself way more than I can take. However, short of wasting my time searching your previous WFAN shows for evidence, I am assuming that you were NOT unhappy when Steve Cohen bought the team. If I am wrong on this, then my humble apologies. This does not change my course however. You couldn’t have been UNHAPPY with the Cohen purchase. You couldn’t have been unhappy with suddenly being a so-called fan of a baseball team with the richest owner in MLB history. Could you have?

Additionally, I have another question for you Boomer. Smart guy. Where did you think Steve Cohen got his money from in the first place. Was if from helping feed the homeless or by running some non-profit organization? Were you aware what he he did for a living? I suppose not, for if you had, what exactly do you need to figure out here? Don’t be naive Boomer, it’s unbecoming for someone who loves himself as much as you do.

Listen Met fans, you are entitled to your own opinion. If you don’t want to be a Met fan any longer because you just can not stomach guys like Steve Cohen, I’ll understand and bid you a fond farewell. Just don’t let a clown like Boomer Esiason make your opinion for you. Think for yourselves.

I can say this much for myself. I’ll be purchasing Met tickets for the first time in decades because of Steve Cohen’s money, not his morals. I guess I’ll have the pleasure of not seeing Boomer at Citifield. No sleep lost there.

Oh, and one last thing, do the airwaves a favor and shut up Boomer!
